A spectacle flange (or spectacle blind flange) is a type of flange used to isolate sections of a pipeline or system. It consists of two connected discs: one is a solid plate (blind), which blocks off the flow, and the other is a ring (spacer) that allows flow to continue. These two components resemble a pair of spectacles, hence the name.

Key Features:

Blind Side: Used when you want to stop the flow in the pipeline.

Spacer Side: Allows flow to pass when placed in the pipeline.

Applications: Commonly used in maintenance or temporary shutoff operations, where you may need to isolate a section of the system.

The spectacle flange is bolted between two flanges, and by rotating it, you can switch between allowing or stopping flow. It is commonly used in industries like oil and gas, petrochemicals, and power generation to ensure safety during maintenance or emergency shutdowns.

This component is particularly useful in systems where frequent changes between flow and isolation are required, as it provides a visible indication of whether the flow is blocked or open.
